Airbnb started as a room-renting website and it has expanded into a travel company. Founder Brian Chesky plans to transform the brand into an end-to-end travel outfit, where you can find destinations, book accommodations, look up experiences and even get there. And the next step in their journey of (travel) world domination is Airbnb Adventures.
In 2016, Airbnb launched Trips and expanded it to 5,000 ‘Experiences’ in the next two years–local experiences, culinary tours, and passion-driven journeys that spanned from a few hours to a day-tour. Now, you can travel deeper with natives who organise off-the-charts ‘Adventures’ into the unexplored.
Airbnb Adventures
Airbnb Adventures is an extension to Airbnb Experiences. This latest offering by the brand offers an excellent opportunity to Indian women to discover new places. These trips are anywhere between one night and 10 nights, with a small group up to 12 people. The hosts of these Adventures take care of everything–they make an itinerary, book your stay, plan your meals and excursions. All you have to do is book an Adventure and pay for your round tickets. These are not all jumping-off-the-plane activities; they have camping in the wild, culinary tours, living in villages, farming and more in the roster (200 in total right now).
So, if you’re ready to take a leap with them, join the hosts and a small group of like-minded travellers, and explore the world.
Top Picks From Airbnb Adventures
Airbnb Adventures started off with the ostentatious ‘Around The World In 80 Days’ tour, Phileas Fogg style. The Rs 3.5 lakh tour is already sold out, but there are many listed on the website for different corners of the world. My top picks for Airbnb Adventures are:
1. Annapurna Mountain Village Trek: Fly to Kathmandu and join host Kunchok on this six-day trip that will show you the Himalayan village life. You will trek through forests, climb mountains and interact with locals. Rs 60,000 per person, inclusive of accommodation, food, tickets, and transportation (bus and car rides); book here
2. Glamp Under The Northern Lights: On this Adventure in Sweden, you can check off the Northern Lights from your bucket list, enjoy the winter wonderland, go dog sledding and skiing, and meet Santa’s helpers, reindeer–all while glamping in tents. Rs 1,79,929 per person for a six-day trip inclusive of meals and accommodation; book here
3. Foraging Mushrooms On The Oregon Coast: The three-day culinary experience takes you to a Myrtle Farm in Oregon to learn to pick, cultivate and cook wild mushrooms. Rs 27,353 per person, inclusive of food, accommodation, drinks, equipment, and transportation; book here
